I feel like Wake Me Up When September Ends was more popular {sucessfull}.
But Green Day's most sucessful {and controversial} single was
"American Idiot".

in popularity they're about the same but in my opinion, wake me up when september ends is alot better than boulevard of broken dreams. :)
