According to my experience, tell her to wait one more month! I became pregnant after three months of coming off the pill, and I was shocked it was so soon. She shouldn't be worried at all. If she has been trying for 12 months and still nothing, I would seek a Dr. opinion, but even then, it could be nothing. Tell her to be patient and enjoy all the non pregnant things she can still do. It'll happen:)

I wouldn't worry some people without being on the pill takes more than just 2 months. I was on the pill for about 4 years and within 3 months I got pregnant, but that's not necessary the timing for everyone. It will happen until then tell her to have fun trying.

The doctors say that it is best after you have had at least one normal period to start trying but everyone is different! I was on the injection and when i came off it i was bleeding for three weeks then stopped for one week then bleed for three then off for one ! went back to my doc and he put me on the pill form half dose for three months after that he said it would be quick and he was right i was pregnant the next month! With someone being on the pill for five years could take a few months of normal period before you conceive. Good luck

I've known women who have had no trouble getting pregnant after coming off the pill. My doctor had told me it would take 2-3 months for my body to go back to "normal" after coming off the pill, and I was on it for almost 5 years. It took me 13 months to conceive. But that's certainly not the norm. Just tell your friend to relax and that if it takes over a year, then she should see her doctor about it.

I fell pregnant straight away when I come of the pill after many years of taking it. But when I had the depo injection it took exactly a year. Some of my friends took them a few months to fall pregnant. I would suggest your friend have intercourse in the middle of her cycle for a better chance of getting pregnant.

Hi,
The amount of time it takes for your body to adjust to being 'pill free' varies from woman to woman. I would recommend that your friend start charting her cycles to see if her fertility has returned (just because she has regular periods doesn't mean she is ovulating).
Your friend needs to do two things:
1 Take her temperature every morning when she wakes up. It will rise when she ovulates (around the middle of her cycle) and will stay higher until her next period. Once released the egg remains viable for fertilisation for just 12-24 hours!
2. Keep an eye on her mucus. It will become stretchy like egg white as she approaches ovulation. Sperm can survive for up to 5 days in this most fertile mucus.
When trying to concieve it is recommended that you have intercourse every other day for a week before you ovulate and then for two days after.
Getting pregnant is not as easy as one might imagine and can take a year or more. Your friend should relax, make sure she is taking pre-natal vitamins and enjoy this exciting time!

I was on the pill for 11 years and it took about 2 weeks. Yep! First time I ovulated and had intercourse!
It took my friends about 2 years when she came off the pill.
It is all up to your body. I asked my doctor about it and he said some people just take longer even if they are not coming off of the pill. One thing I would tell your friend if she is trying is to get prenatal vitamins now! That was something my doctor told me to start taking 2 - 3 months before I got off of the pill to start trying.
Best of luck to your friend!

It took me about eight months to get pregnant. I had a hard time because I was on the pill for nine years and my horomones were out of whack when I went back to my old body.....this is completely normal because it takes some time to regulate your cycle after going off the pill.
Although your friend may be bleeding and think it is a normal period, she may not be ovulating. I went in for tests and they found that for the first few months I was not ovulating because my body simply didn't remember what to do....after another few months I was back to a regular cycle and was able to concieve, although it took time and patience, as well as charting my cycle to see if I was definitely ovulating. Tell your friend to have patience and she will get pregnant...not to worry!
