Sephora is my personal fav. Now I live in a small Iowan community, and we don't have any Sephora's (ok its like 65,000, but I still think that is small) So, I emailed them and told them I don't really know which red lipstick to get. They asked for my skin-tone etc. And emailed me with a list of different products and the exact color that would look best on my complexion. They even took into consideration my acne. Now I have a perfect shade, that doesn't accentuate the red on my face! They have superb care, and I would only reccomend them. Even if you have a sephora, as I went to the one in Minnesota when we were there to visit the grandparents, I went there and was having troubles with finding the right color of eyeshadow, and how to keep it on, they found my perfect color and a potion to help keep it on. When emailing/asking them they often ask for your personality and cool stuff like that to see if you need a more outgoing shade. I ⥠Sephora! Go there! It may be a little more expensive, but it is totally worth it!

Yeah red is a hard color to find in good brands unless you live in LA. Go to target and look at the cheap brands. Check the dollar store. Check all the discount places because it is harder to find in the high end places. Why do I know this??? Because I used to perform dance and we needed red lipstick for performances and people said that is how you find it. Sephora has so many brands that it probably has it.

AVON ~
first of all.... what's more important to you? moisturizing, long lasting, shine, shimmering colors, flat colors, gloss, stick? that will make it easier to choose a color? Avon has them all at a 100% guarantee that if you do not like the color you can return it even if it's used. How cool is that? Because red have different hues to them, some have yellow, blue, and browns, you really can't determine how they will look until you have them on and matched with your own skin tone. Testing it on your hand doesn't always work. Your face has different highlights and lip features and hair color all play a factor in selecting the perfect lip color for you.
I personally like the Ultra Color Rich Lipstick. It provides great coverage and looks moist on your lips, not stiff like some can look, especially in red tones.
I shop for my AVON at: www.youravon.com/sweaver. You could also find a closer representative to your area and ask for samples of the red toned colors. Try them that way before you buy.
Take a look they have a variety of colors (in the red zone) to choose from. You can have them directly shipped to you, they are inexpensive, try them if you don't like them simply send them back. I am not completely certain, but I think the shipping to send them back is free also. I have never sent anything back, that's how good the products have been.

I buy mine at the local CVS but if you're looking for a hip chic brand name, visit the M.A.C counter...they really do have great shades and the counsultants will make sure you get the proper shade of red for your complexion. After all, you don't want to end up with something too orangey, too dark, or too in your face.Very few people can pull of true reds so just be careful when you pick your shade!

I think MAC probably has the most shades of any line, but anywhere that a makeup artist can help you choose you'll probably get a good shade. Red lipsticks are either blue-toned or orange-toned. You need to play around with different shades to find which suits your skin tone.

MAC has a great color. Actually, majority of red lipsticks have a lot of blue in them. That said, look for London red color, which majority of brands like Loreal also carry.

MAC is great and their products always have a reputation of superb quality. I personally would go to Sephora though with their knowledgeable and friendly staff and a plethora of different brands to choose from.

Yeah, I would think sephora sales assistants would know since they have so many brands. I needed a really red one for stage performance and I got it from my salon lady -- she knows a lot about makeups. :)
