There is a belt tensioner that has to be loose in order to take off the old belt and to put on the new belt. In order to loosen it up you must first find it then, on it there is going to be a square slot for a 1/2 inch drive ratchet. the ratchet goes in the slot and you then turn it to where there is slack in the belt then that is when you can take off the old one. To replace just repeat after making sure that the belt is on every pulley correctly..

Take you car and the belt to a reliable mechanic. The labor for putting on a serpentine is .5. It's worth it. Good Luck.

Some of the GM cars had to have the mount taken off to route the belt.
