The Toshiba A100 - 147 was available before Christmas in PC World, Dixons, and Currys for 749 euro.
Stocks ran out, so I was unable to get one, but I was assured that it would be back in stock after Christmas.
Now, in the sales, it is 799!!!
Why are these stores ripping off their Irish clients?
What is the best way to deal with this robbery?
I have spoken to the three stores, and they are not the slightest bit interested in customer irritation.
It's just take it or leave it.
Would appreciate your views.

Machine is only available through this group.

Discussed matter with Dixons manager in Jervis Centre, Dublin.
Quite honestly, he couldn't care less.
He only had the display model left, but the store in Liffey Valley in Dublin had 19 left.
Again, I got a "couldn't care less" attitude there too, just as in PC World.
I intend to raise the matter with Consumer Affairs when Christmas holidays are over.

Nothing new there then!

Do what I did! I went into PC World and like you found that they had mysteriously increased the price. I took my wad of cash to the local Staples office supply place and said to the manager, 'I've got £500 cash here, I want a laptop but I don't really want to go to PC WORLD. What can you do'?

He immediately said, 'I'll beat any offer'. I went out of the store with £100 off a laptop, a laptop carry bag, 10 blank CD-R's - Total £500. If totting up the cost of all items I would have paid £625 at PC WORLD.

Shop around

Have you asked the management this question, for it does seem like a huge rise increase of €50.00, I would shop around unless this was the model you wanted and unable to buy it anywhere else. if you do buy from them, ask, what are they willing to throw in with the deal, like a carrying case, recordable DVDs and some software. at the end of the day you can always take your money to another shop which would only be to pleased to to business with you.

They are all part of the same company.
They rip off all their clients not just the Irish ones. This is the same for most large companies.

Your next to last sentence says it all. Customer? - nah. Service? - nah. Just flog whatever you can get away with.
