Solar lighting is my first choice due to cost, don't want to run electrical lines to the walls unless I have to.

Solar lights are ok but electrical lights are the best. Try setting the lights out for up lighting the walls and downlighting or a combination. When you install the lighting provide outlets along the wall for holiday lighting decorations. In the future maybe you will install a small pond and waterfall

Yes, solar is the way to go for outdoor lighting. Go to ebay and search on "solar light" and "solar lamp". There are many, many styles to choose from. A solar light will give you about 8 hours (more or less) after having charged on a sunny day.

as yet i have not seen any decent solar lighting, save up for cables and do some your self it can be cheaper than u think then get a electrician to do final connections to mains and check it

Try mirrors across from lights that are on the wall it should help illuminate the room
