Who was the guitar player in the Red Hot Chili Peppers song Californication, and if it was John Fruciante, why is the solo so bad.

Anonymous is right, John was going through a heroin addiction, and he did have a pretty wild way of playing the Californication solo, but the way the song was going plus if you understand the way the lyrics go with the music, the solo could or might sound bad to most due to the fact dave navarro left the band, so people were mad because dave is a pretty good musician and now they have john back. I think its how you view RHCP With or without john that makes the way he plays good or bad for the band.

Yeah, it was John Frusciante. I think he is the best guitar player at the moment, and the solo is amazing.

Fruciante was trying to kick a wicked coke habit at the time, and the band publicly admitted that they were less than pleased with his performance.
