Different color and same sex would not be a problem at all. About religion, it would become a problem if the relation were serious and that person were very religious and pushed my child to convert, because most religions don't allow marriage with someone who doesn't believe in the same religion (and don't allow living together without marriage either). But I would not make pressure on my child in any way, just be worried when I would see these religious problems approaching that I went through myself when I fell in love with a Muslim while I have no religion.
But if it were the honest wish of my child to convert to some religion I would also have to respect that.

Judging by the wording of your question you have wrongly assumed that most peoples reaction would be (like yours?) a negative one (otherwise why ask "do you think your opinion would change if they stayed together over a long peopiod of time?")
I don't care if me child comes home with a Martian as long as they are both happy and love and respect one another.

no one can really say if it doesn't happen to them but I think if someone finds love I mean real true love then let them have it. who cares what color people are? well I guess a lot of people do but I believe with real love nothing much else matters, I have actually thought about your question before and that is the conclusion I came to.. because so many people of the same color and culture together are bad for each other so I think there are so many other facts that are more important like how do they treat each other?

I have two daughters who are lesbians. Their relationships with their partners are as good as any hetrosexual relationships, there is trust, loyalty, affection, friendship, all that love encompasses.
I dont know what religion their partners are, nor do i care. One of my daughters has had a relationship with a girl of a different race in the past. No problem.
I love my daughters and their friends and lovers have enriched our family.
No problems.

This is one reason why an Englishman likes to have an heir and a spare. The wayward child can then be disowned and family duty, responsibility and wealth passed to the alternate.

As long as they are healthy, happy and loved, are aware of the society related consequences of thier actions....I'd be fine with it. Life is too short for us to dictate parameters like that. If it lasts a long time so much the better. There is so much unhappiness and judgement in life...........I'm thier Mother, I'd simply love them, if they believe in God.....he can judge them, I won't.

I wouldn't be so bigoted to have any concerns. Obviously, I'd be disapointed if he/she came back with a gay partner, but I'd still love them the same. As for different colour/religion, that wouldn't bother me at all. Would it you?

Why would my reaction be a negative one? I'm not the one in the relationship with this person. My only question and concern would be ..Is this a honest and mature person? a violent person?
As a parent your always going to have questions and concerns about your kid. That's only natural.

I don't think I would pay attention to stuff like that but I would ponder about it......Yes I bet my opinion might change over a period of time but it depends on what my original opinion was

They are entitled to fall in love with whoever they please and I would be there for them if it worked out and if it didn't whether different a colour/religion or the same and whether it was a same sex partner or not
