A period of time, after the wedding, that the new couple spends (traditionally) getting to know one another as man and wife, relaxing and getting used to having another person in thier life as a constant.
In our modern times, since many of us live together prior to getting married, the honeymoon is like a vacation, a time to relax and enjoy each other, alone, before returning to work and the 'real' world.

*Hope this helps*

It was the accepted practice in Babylonia 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer, and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the 'honey month' or what we know today as the 'honeymoon'.
The honeymoon is the period of time after a wedding where the bride and groom vacation together. It is a relaxing way to start a marriage after all of the stress of the wedding party.

It's not something friends have to worry about (and that's the category you are in). It's a period of time a newly married couple spends together, usually on a trip, to celebrate their new life.
