I caught the end of casualty and saw Ellen die, but what happenned to Josh?

they rushed him up to Holby City for an emergency op. I think he made it, cos i they did show Josh, Charlie and Charlie's son all holding hands at the hospital bedside.
Why do they always kill of a main character at Christmas??

Josh got stabbed in the neck and back by the crazy woman. The same woman that Ellen was chasing when she got hit by the motor bike

josh was stabbed by a psycho woman who nearly killed her daughter and had run off with her Ellen was running after her and got hit by motorbike charlies son confessed that josh didn't hit him so charlie was left feeling very guilty for not believing josh

He got stabbed by some mad woman who was making her child ill by injecting her with insuling(from a previous episode) but he was found just in the nick of time and it was touch and go but he is gonna live....charlies brat admitted that josh had not hit him and charlie and josh are buddies....josh gonna be just fine and move back in wiv charlie and the bratt.....enuff info?????

josh is alive and off to watch cricket abroad!! hope hes not going to watch the ashes!!
