I got a barely there positive with an at home test at what ended up being 3 or 4 days before my period was due. It is quite possible, though highly unlikely, at 6 weeks for an at home test not to show positive. Call the health department or your regular doctor for a blood test. There are reasons for HCG levels to be really low, all of which I can think of need seen to.

Okay one, go to the health department, they'll do the blood test for free.
Two, be sure you are looking very very closely for the line. I know that sounds retarded, but my first pregnancy the line was faint, my second, it was barely there. I nearly threw it in the trash before I noticed it.
Three, I've gotten false negatives, with my third pregnancy. I took the tests before I was due for a period. I took one 5 days before, and I took another 1 day before. What brand tests are you taking? Have you tried more than one brand? I had twins last time, double the babies, double the hormones! I tested with First Response the first two times. Unable to believe that I wasn't pregnant I bought a genric, Equate brand, test. I took it the day before my period would have started as well. I couldn't even finish taking the test before it was postitive!
My advice is the blood test, they're the most accuarate.

I was due for my period on Sept. 15. I tested on the 17th and it was negative. On Sept. 28, it occured to me that my period was still not here so I decided to casually pick up an equate pregnancy test from Walmart, while going to pick out my son's Halloween costume and to get some juice. I came home, took it, and before I could even get my pants zipped, it showed I was gonna be a mommy again:) Three more tests later showed the same thing-lol:) I'm currently 18 weeks:)

I tested at about 8 weeks (i lost a twin at around 5+ weeks, so didn't realize I was pregnant before the 8 or so weeks mark)
I got an immediate positive....no negatives.
Have you gone to get a blood test? These are more accurate.
