The above assertion was widely publicized in the Philippines during the EDSA One uprising in February 1986. It was reported that Marcos and his entrourage were taken by the US Marines, courtesy of the Central Intelligence Agency, and detained in Hawaii until death overtook him there several years later.

It was publicized as such, but the truth is far from it. I was stationed at Clark Air Force Base at the time, when marcos was about to be ousted, he asked the American gov't for help, helos were dispatched to pick him up along with whoever he was taking with him. Webster defines the word abduction: seize and take away by force. marcos and his entourage, including his top general: ver and bodyguards, boarded the helos fully armed. The only time they got disarmed was prior to boarding a starlifter bound for HAFB. Oahu, Hawaii. No kidnapping folks, just responding to a request for political asylum. And detention is not the word, its seclusion - for his own protection. Too bad he died, it would have been interesting to see his next futile moves.

He was not abducted but escorted. All along, he thought he was going to Paoay, Ilocos instead of Hawaii.

I do think we took him out of the Philippines to keep him from being killed, but the CIA didn't have anything to do with it.
