I agree with you completely, in fact I don't read anything about celebrities because I think they get far too much credit , oh look Mel Gibson said a dirty word!!! wow . its the money if you had a boat load of money people would be monitoring your every move but only if you wanted them to because some celebrities are very discrete. money can buy just about anything from attention to internal organs or what ever

Which people are impressed? I look at her and think that she is smart and has worked out public relations.
She is pandering to the monkey brain, selling sex and winning, and has hit the sweet spot on picking the level of the populace and what they are buying. She gives people what they are craving, she is a marketing guru. In her personal life we have no idea what she is really like or whether she is truly happy.
However when a celebrity takes action of a beneficial nature it can be an inspiration to others. I see a person as their some of beneficial contribution to society and clearly this is a helpful act. I won't criticise her for it. There are many other worse things she could have done. I would have been more impressed however if she exposed the financial criminals behind the African poverty in the first place.

I never understand why anyone would drool over Madonna for the reasons you mention. She is just an entertainer and I think people just go crazy about her because of her celebrity. That aside she did do something more than what other people do - I would not drool over her - but adopting a child is a nice thing to do.
Good Luck!!!

Wrong category, but I will answer anyway. The accent is faux since she is an East Coast girl. She is long-lived because she has managed to stay on people's minds after all these years. Her celebrity has dimmed a bit, but her fans hang on (including my fiancee). The adoption was a copy-cat move and created a buzz for her.

I do not think that people admire her public life at all. I do not even care for her style of music or for the way she looks for that matter. What I think is that people admire about her is her performances. From what I have heard she is a grade A performer. Just like Elton John who puts on a great show, I really do not like to think or know about his private life off the stage. They both kind of remind me of that in a similar way.

Who's so impressed? All she does is occasionally introduce something that becomes a temporary new fad. Her latest stunt is that she's introduced a new fashion accessory to the world ... a poor African kid!

This is also the same woman that put out the very funny book SEX, where she is in all kinds of naked and provocative poses.
Ultimately to what end or purpose is beyond me

I saw her on Regis and Kelly yesterday morning and I thought she presented herself quite well. Maybe she is finally growing up.
