When something like 60% of the people believe in Creationism/Intelligent Design and more than a third believe the moon landings were faked?

I mean, a lot of these people are sitting on school boards and - God forbid - teaching in classrooms.

Is America doomed?

i find it interesting that you claim intelligent design is false,
and then ask God to forbid something.
America is doomed when she forsakes God.

Of course America is doomed, silly. As long as countries will be around they will change over 1,000's of years. We are in a golden age right now, that's all. Empires crumble.

More importantly, is the human race doomed?

There are two different outcomes, the "heaven scenario" and "the hell scenario". The hell scenario is our technology\population growing too quickly and us killing ourselves either with disease or warfare. The heaven scenario is being able to come up with ways to fix these disasters we create before each one is too late. So far we have come up with solutions to erratic these "close-calls" in time.

On a more positive note, the rapid sharing of information on sites like this one, myspace, youtube, and various blogs is one of the key ingredients for the heaven scenario.

Personally I would be alright with humans wiping themselves out, and yes I would be okay with having my silly life wiped out in the process... I'm just not very impressed with our race and what it's done for the planet. I feel this place would be better without us.

I don't think 60% of the people believe in Creationism/Intelligent Design. It doesn't matter, they're the dumbasses who aren't our scientists anyway.

Not if students make it to college and take some *real* science courses.

There are some intelligent Americans out there, just not in the Whitehouse.
