The authentic Macedonians are Greek!
There are also Slav-Macedonians and Albanian-Macedonians form FYROM (Slavic/Albanian -Macedonia) but they are not Greeks!

The Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon or Macedonia (Greek “Μακεδονία” from Greek word “Makos” attic “Mekos” meaning length!) was located in the north part of Greece!
All the evidences have proven that it was a typical Greek state.
First of all Macedonians were speaking a Greek dialect and it is very easily proved from archaeological evidence!
All the monuments and inscriptions found in the Macedonia are written in Greek language and in Greek only! All the inscriptions on coins and other artifacts are written in Greek. There are no ancient monuments with a different language. Furthermore there are a large number of discoveries in Asia in the route of Alexander the Great. All these monuments, discovered in Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, India and many more countries, prove that Alexander’s quest was Greek and that his goal was to spread the Greek civilization all over the world. (Not to mention that Alexander founded 70 Greek cities with most important the city of Alexandria! and he is responsible for the spreading of the Greek culture and language all the way to India!)
All the ancient Macedonian names mentioned in history or found on tombs are Greek. All the kings of Ancient Macedonia had Greek names. Let me give you a small list of the Greek names of the Macedonians

Just to demonstrate the ignorance of some users lets see some information about Thessalonici The city was founded circa 315 BC by Cassander, ( A king with a Greek name!) the King of Macedon (Μακεδών), on or near the site of the ancient town of Therma (another Greek name) and twenty six other local villages. He named it after his wife Thessalonica (yet another Greek name!), the sister of Alexander the Great (another famous Greek). She gained her name from her father, Philip II of Macedon (yet another king with a Greek name! Whats wrong with those ancient Macedonians? Are they Greek lovers?), to commemorate her birth on the day of his gaining a victory (Gr. Nike) over the Phocians, who were defeated with the help of Thessalian horsemen, the best in Greece at that time. Thessalonki means the "victory of Thessalians"
(All the names that are now in use in authentic Macedonia of Greece are the authentic Greek names used by the ancient Macedonians!)
And of course there aren’t any Slav-Macedonians in Greece. There are only 25 members of a political party that claim that they are of Slav origin. They did participate in the election under a broad coalition with an extreme left party and few gay/lesbian activist groups. In a total population of 2500000 authentic Macedonians they received less than 3000 votes (0.01%)! (Remember the votes are for the coalition of parties)

100% Greeks . Eleni gives THE explanation. Of course in the area of FYROM there are some people that have Greek origin and they speak a language similat to Greek. It is not correct for the leaders of FYROM to try convince their people to believe that Macedonians are a nation. The inhabitants of Greek Macedonia feel 100% Greeks like all the other inhabitants of the rest of Greece. The reading of the history gives all the answers very clearly. Well ,let me explain you the confusion that has been created.
Makedonia is the north part of ancient and new Greece.
Thessaloniki is the capital of Makedonia which is the co-capital of Greece.
In the 70's when Yugoslavia was a communist country,Tito the president of that country had a small problem.His country was a union of different slavic countries as Serbia,Croatia,Bosnia etc.The differences were huge.If you visit those countries you will understand what I mean.Different religions,different way of life and a huge difference of the rich croatians and the poor skopians in the south,for example.
He understood that they were going to be seperated one day.In the location of Skopia(the capital of FYROM) the population were coming from Albania but mostly from Bulgaria(and few Greeks in Monastiri that they now call it Bitola).
Their language is a bulgarian dialect.He had problems with Bulgaria already.So,he thought something clever but bad for the others.He named the location Makedonia,as it is called the location of Greece which is bordered with Skopia and he began a propaganda all over the world that Alexander the Great is the ancestor of the people who live in Skopia.
That is something really funny because Alexander the Great or the word Macedonia are greek,they mean something in Greek language and have nothing to do with slavic or bulgarian.Of course the citizens there want to forget their bulgarian-albanian identity.
The reason that Yugoslavians did that was financial ,of course as everything.They wanted to have an access in the Aegean Sea.This is crazy as you can understand because

As for the question MACEDONIANS aren't and will never be Greek!!! MACEDONIANS have their own language!! MACEDONIA was divided Greece,Albania, Bulgaria and todays country MACEDONIA when under Yugoslavia!! In all these countries these parts were called MACEDONIA and are allowed to speak the MACEDONIAN language except in the Greek part!!! The MACEDONIANS in the todays Greek part were stripped of their human rights and were forced to change their names and speak only the Greek language!! They changed names of Cities,Villages,Lakes and rivers!!! Churches were destoryed in this part to wipe out anything and everything to do with the MACEDONIAN nation!! Greece closed its borders to the north for many many years!! People that had left there homes and families to purse a different lifestyle in a different country were not allowed to even go back to see their homes and families that they had left!!! Their was a time if you told a Greek that you were from MACEDONIA they would say that there is no such a thing as MACEDONIA!! But in 1988 they named Nothern Greece MACEDONIA and put up signs everywhere saying welcome to MACEDONIA!! Now after that they claim that yes there is a MACEDONIA but it is in Greece but there isn't any people that speak the MACEDONIAN language here!! That is very strange because I am a MACEDONIAN and I am from Solun todays (Thessloniki) and I can speak both languages because I learn't the MACEDONIAN langauge from my grandfather which was part of what went on when MACEDONIA was divided!!! It sad to see that there is still people that believe that MACEDONIA was always Greek!! Because I also know alot of people that are from this area and today speak the MACEDONIAN language and know the truth behind MACEDONIA!! But you can't help what people say and continue to say that MACEDONIA is Greek because they were forced this way and thats that!!
