When I drive in the summer I wonder why the dozens of footballers wives wannabes and assorted other posers can't hang loose and drop the soft top when it's not raining. What's the point ? I would love at least one sensible answer - that might be a challenge.

Real celebrities aren't keen on being seen - so won't open the soft top.
Wannabes are so desperate to get photographed/noticed/infamy that they don't want the wind move a hair or crease of their look - so daren't open the soft top.
Most young people who can afford a soft top have more money than sense - so can't operate the soft top

Sometimes I think it's all about image, look at me I have a convertible! In this case I wonder if they don't put the top down because they don't want to mess up their hair! Or maybe when they bought it they didn't reckon on any impracticalities, windy, chilly etc

Just lately I have seen a lot of people driving around in convertibles with the top down, even though it's not raining, if you ask me it's a little too cold for it at this time of year!

I have a mustang gt convertable and there are a lot of times when I don't put the top down in the summer. Mainly when it's 105 degrees F outside and it's just too freakin hot! The A/C is more effective with the top up. When the temp is good you can bet that top is down every chance I get. Face it, some things are just more fun topless!

I would leave the top down while driving, then put it back when I'm not driving, to keep it secure. On the other hand, perhaps the stars feel too insecure & paranoid to leave their soft tops down.

Because they don't want to mess up their $200 hairdos. I find it more absurd to see people driving with the top down and the windows up.

Always wondered myself. It seems rather silly.

Perhaps there's a satisfaction knowing that there's potential for topless cruising, and the potential does not need to be realised ...

the point is to show that you have those thousands.

plus, throwing drinks into cars is not that common in rich neighbourhoods and rural areas.
