Mine would have to be Johnny Remember me sang by Showaddwaddy if anyone remembers them....anyway here are the lyrics I just find the whole song errie :(

JOHNNY REMEMBER ME

When the mist's a rising
And the rain is falling
And the wind is blowing cold across the moor
I hear the voice of my darling
The girl I loved and lost a year ago

(Johnny remember me)

Well it's hard to believe I know
But I hear her singing in the sighing of the wind
Blowin' in the tree tops way above me

(Johnny remember me)

Yes I'll always remember
Till the day I die
I'll hear her cry
Johnny remember me

Well some day I guess
I'll find myself another little girl
To take the place of my true love
But as long as I live I know
I'll hear her singing in the sighing of the wind
Blowin' in the tree tops way above me

(Johnny remember me)

Yes I'll always remember
Till the day I die
I'll hear her cry
Johnny remember me

(Johnny remember me)

There's an old song that I consider downright haunted, and I do not know the name, but it might be "The Long Black Veil:"

The judge said son what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else then you won't have to die
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife.

She walks these hills in a long black veil
And visits my grave where the night winds wail.

You see, the song is being sung by a dead man, which is pretty haunting if you ask me.

For an instrumental, there is the theme music for the movie "Dead Man," starring Johnny Depp, which was written by Neil Young. Very powerful, very haunting. The DVD of the movie includes a music video of the theme song, which can spook you real good. It's a very strange, strange movie. But then, Depp does that.

In the midst of time namely September 2002, my Mum passed away from medical incompetence and neglect. In recent years the song that makes this 52 year old guy cry is a 1968 song by Donald Peers called "Please Don't Go" which got to Number 3 in 1969 (A Christmas release if memory serves). The lyric is one of the most beautiful and the orchestral arrangement is fabulous. The combination of which brings me to tears in recent years. It only came out on a compilation cd a few years ago and I've never seen it since.Yes,I know its a love song, but somehow it seems to have taken on a new meaning. This is my most haunting song now nearly 38 years old.Thank you,Alan L.

It has to be Entangle by Genesis, from their album Trick Of The Tail. It has the most haunting theme and the second half of the song is heavenly and spooky at the same time.

Most of the songs on Enya's debut album 'Watermark' are hauntingly beautiful.

But the song 'Into Dust' by American duo Mazzy Star is the most haunting/depressing song in my collection, but i love it!

I agree with Johnny Remember Me by John Leyton. Good choice.

I just realised that it says the version by Showaddyaddy. No!!!!!! I only like the original.
