why do you like rap?

i personally hate it because its not music rock,metal and all that is really music to me rap sucks he degrades the rapper and women even female rappers degrade themselves

i'm not saying all rappers degrade women just most of them i have heard

sorry but rap really isnt music all they do is press a button to get a beat but rock bands have to sit in a studio ACTUALLY playing an instrument most rappers don't even write their own songs and rockers do

Its all about understanding, what you grow up with and how well you can relate. I can relate to rap i understand what they saying and what the rappers went through, well old school rap anyways, todays rap just gloryfies everything old school rap was saying was what was wrong with the streets and destroying the people in the streets.
I personally do not like rock and metal because when i listen to them i hear either depressed or satanic people screaming and i cant understand what they saying or if i can understand the words i have no idea what they mean, BUT that dont give me the right to start smashing rock and metal just cause i dont understand it because i know theres people out there who can relate, understand the meaning and like rock and metal.

I like it simply because I love to dance. It is good dance music, and most of what I listen to does not degrade women. Some of it does but I'm more worried about the beat than the lyrics.

Metal/Rock will always be my fav. group of music, but I'm flexable.. I like all of it in doses =)

Just because you don't like a particular style of music does not make it "not music".

Music is much more than just a melody. Would you tell a drummer that he is not a musician just because the instrument he plays doen't produce a pitch?

Music is an art form that is used to stimulate emotions. While a lot of rap can be gritty and abrasive, it is meant to be that way. It stimulates an emotion in the listener. Just like a lot of blues music is meant to be sad and depressing, or metal music is meant to be fast and agressive.

Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there are millions upon millions of people who would disagree with your statement that rap is "not music". I happen to be one of them.

Oh for the love of god!!! If i hear one more person say rap sucks when all they've heard is the garbage out today than be in for a nasty answer. Before you sit your a$$ down and take a good listen to the amazing lyrical skills and subject matter of Tupac, Public Enemy, KRS-One, Biggie, Big L, Run DMC, Wu Tang Clan, Slick Rick, RAKIM, Nas etc, don't tell me sh!t about rap being garbage. In the 80s and 90s when rap was what it was supposed to be, it was really good and didn't simply talk about bling bling etc. Please do research before jumping to such an unbelieveable conclusion that just because its terrible today that it terrible before. I don't mean to sound rude but come on!!

Not all male rappers degrade women. And when I sing along to female rap songs.. it's almost empowering.. I don't know. I love all genres of music. No rap song has ever meant much to me, but sometimes it's fun for to mix it up...

I like the beats, not really what they say. The beats are good for the clubs and dancing. I like R&B better, as well as Soul, Jazz, Pop, Latin, Latin Pop and some Rock.
