I think it is often used far too cheaply, but perhaps there are few alternatives.

I agree, when people say sorry too often it begins to lose some of it's meaning, particularly if they are ALWAYS sorry, you think they just wouldn't do the things in the first place. I think the same is true for 'I love you' and 'I promise' you begin to not believe people when they say it too often and if they are not sincere

I'm sorry is the easiest thing to say IF one is wrong and admits it. Forget pride and be honest with those WHO need an apology. How about this one, which is true by the way. Say I love and forgive you to someone who has harmed you. That does not mean that you have to bow down to them or even have anything else to do with them, but forgiving them is right, and if one holds a grudge against anyone they are only doing harm to themselves. The person that has caused the hurt has to live with them self, and there is no need to be miserable as you are doing what they want by being that way. Let it go and get on with your life and you will be a better person for it.

I agree with you that sorry is used far too cheaply, people just go round hurting and using people and think the word 'sorry' is enough to put things right again, its not, been forgiven has to come before 'sorry' is acceptable, have a great new year.

If ment genuinely, it is horribly difficult. But those who say it often, it means nothing more than an "excuse me" after a loud passing of gas.
I don't think there is a good alternative. If I have offended someone, an "I apologise" is of value only when I mean it. And plan not to reoffend.

to say sorry for the bad things you have done is is not hard to say and you should say it as a matter of submitting your self for correction
