When I remotely access my desktop from my laptop on the same network, it takes about 30 seconds to open a folder. Is this normal? I use XP, a D-Link Router, and only the laptop and pc are on the network.

Generally the first time you access the other pc on a network after logging onto it..it CAN take up to 30 seconds to locate, but then once accessed it should only take a couple of seconds from then on until you log off again.

Well everytime you log-in, first time it might take that long, but if you are logged-in and still it takes that long there seems to be a problem. Call your network administrator.
