Ofcourse I know what a friend means... I just want to know how you people define it. Im asking what is a friend to you.

For me, you just have to be willing to listen. And in turn, let me be the listener. Advice is great, but sometimes it feels even better to just be heard. A friend, to me, is someone who can do that for you and allow you to do that for them.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail when you really screwed up.
A real friend will say "Now we really screwed up, who do you think we can phone to come and bail us out"
With this above I just wanted to show that real friends will stick with you through thick and thin, no matter what.
On a serious note - Most people know which friends can they go to when they want to have a good time or a party etc. But have you noticed how the numbers dwindle when you think to which friends can you turn in a time of need. Now that is your real friends - the rest I see as people I know, not as friends.

a friend is someone who is there when you needed, a shoulder to cry on one who listen, always within your reach not only when you are up but most specially when you are down.
