I can smoke a cigarette and sip on my beer while driving my stick shift car AND punching my friend "slug bug", so I'd have to disagree.

I would disagree to a point. Men are set up to be more goal oriented. It's not that we CAN'T do several things at once just because we have a Y chromosome, just like women are still able to be very aggressive in the absence of one. It's that we won't be PRONE to do as well. In ancient times, the men were the warrior/hunters. Find, Fight, Kill, Provide. Pretty straight forward. It was the women who raised and cared for the children. Talk about having to think in a million directions at once! So we can multi-task, we just don't have the same propensity for it.

Men's brains work in a linear mode. This allows us to FOCUS on the task at hand. Hunting, fishing, building, inventing are things that require a single train of thought. Womens ability to multi-task is a compliment to the man. She can be cooking, cleaning, raising babies and nagging all at once.

If you want to see my masculine multitasking; simply hand me a TV remote an watch me flip back and forth between 3 or 4 tv shows and follow all of them simultaneously.

Also, you would be amazed by all the stuff that I can do while driving. Truly amazed... Especially if I'm down anywhere close to the speed limit.

I cant really listen to other people very well when im really studying reading or on my computer concetrating intensly. Its quite anooying
actually and it usually goes in one ear and out the other. I get very involved sometimes.

However the opposite happens when my aunt calls, I do eveything and everything i need too while she drones on and on and on and dare i say on.. i always say things like uh huh, yup, of course, uh huh..yup.. My mom does the same thing. My dad( a painter) usually keeps trying to paint even though hes on a ladder and doesn't have a hands free headset.
.

In all seriousness though, i have 2GB of ram in my tablet pc so i can multitask majorly and i do.

I used to be in the sound dept at my church. It was a multitasking bootcamp, operating a 32 channel mixing board, while constantly adjusting mics and equipment for a band and all sorts of speakers singers and groups coming up on an off the stage and listening on my my headset to other sound guys.. There were so many things going on at once and it was all dynamic and changed on spur of the moment. I had to react instantly and prioritize. I was very visable in my postion so i couldnt make too many mistakes.. I admit it was brutal at first.

I think any man who produces sound or video live or any ER or OR doctor are masters at multiasking.

Guys who play multiplayer realtime strategy games are supermultiaskers. Whats harder than controlling dozens of units agiaints unpredicable and changing foes simultaneusly?

Because men aren't made that way. Women are.

Men were the hunters way, way back in time ... they got their target, tracked it, killed it and were done. Females took care of the babies, camp, cooked, foraged for plants, made clothing, etc... So it's pretty ingrained. But, I've seen some men that can multi-task, it's just easier for women.

Some can, but most simply aren't built to keep up with several things at once. I don't think they should be allowed to use this as an excuse like "I can't make supper, you have to cook to many things at once". I saw an experiment, once where the person was required to do a bunch of things, like you were cooking dinner, watching your toddler, talking on the phone and answering the door. Sound's simple right? The men couldn't do it. It's weird, like one thing goes into their brain and makes them forget about something else.

it is men's strength - ability to give 120% to a single task.
the backside is inability to track details or multiple tasks.
