This again...
So if you were born gay, where did the gene come from since your parents are straight?
And if there IS such a thing as the 'gay' gene, wouldn't it have died out already? Since gays don't pass on their 'gay' gene to the next generation?
Nature from the age of the dinosaurs thru the first mammals and even among the insects, its all about finding the best possible mate to pass your genetic code to the next generation. Go ahead, look at any of the Nature channels and they will tell you that from the aadvark to the antelope to the muskrat to the spider, its all about being the alpha male and finding the best female to reproduce.
Its all about reproduction.
Now if there is a section of society that isn't engaged in the pursuit of reproduction, they are of course without heirs and therefore will die out.
Born gay?
There are some documented situations of hermaphrodites and cross wiring. Those are purely medical because they point to a problem gene. Homosexuality is NOT classified as a medical disorder or disease, well, perhaps in the psych journals, but its not something you can take a pill for.
That's like saying that certain people are born incestuous, or whores, or liking animals. Because if you accept the 'gay' gene, you open the door to child molestation, cheating wives, bestiality, the whole sex rainbow, so to speak.
Its a choice.

I think we are born gay. I agree no one could make a str8 man be with men so why is it hard to believe the other way around. I could never see my self being with a women either! Alot of married men find out they are gay and i have talked to them and they said that they always knew they where but did the srt8 life because they where afraid to be gay from society back when they could have came out. Now they come out because it is more acceptable nowadays. Think of all the hurt and broken homes and confused wife and chiidren that there are because of this and if it would have been better in society these things would never have happehed. Also think of the men that are gay but still hidding and having sex with men on the side outside thier marrige. Its not a small number I can gaurantee that =)

It depends... i've met gays taht are born gay...
In my case, I remember having gay thoughts at the age of 6, but as a child, you... like, don't get the meaning of those feelings.
But I've also heard some guys that turn gays... In the sense that they had never thought about it, and then they have sex with a man... an boom! The discover they like it...

In this page, there is a stupid answer from someone called Mr. O who has no idea about genetics.
If he had any knowledge of the subject, he would know his argument is not valid. In fact, "the gay gene must get wiped out since it does not lead to reproduction" is one number one question ignorant people put forward, and genetic theory has an answer for this.
It would be too lengthy to explain here, so go do your research before you post silly answers.

i think people are born gay, i know that i was born straight and there's nothing i can do to change that fact. it's the same for gay people, i am sure that if many had the choice they would wouldn't be gay just to avoid the persecution that they face.
It's just like if ur black/white and ur attracted to other races u can't help what u like - the body has a mind of it's own at times.

I know of a few people who had a gay person born into the family, and they could tell before they were even old enough to be interested in others in a sexual way.

Significantly more than 99% of people who are gay are born that way, but there likely is a very small fraction of people who are gay who choose to be gay. For that very small fraction, there may have been conditions in their childhood and/or adulthood that drove them to that conclusion, but for everybody else, it was probably hardwired in their brains from long before the time they were born.

I agree that you are born that way. Why would anyone choose to live a life where you have bashers, and all the ignorance that you have to deal with being gay.

Research has already shown that the hypothalamus of a gay male's brain is 4 times as large as that of a straight male. This kind of difference in the brain is something you are born and is not something caused by prolonged behaviour patterns. Hence it is clear that people are born gay.
