What an interesting question. I have taught anatomy and physiology for 15 years and no one has asked that question before. I did some checking, including Gray's Anatomy Of The Human Body, and found no anatomical variations between human male and female urinary bladders. The only exception to this I can find is during pregnancy. The pregnant female's bladder would be compressed by the enlarging uterus, thus reducing the capacity. I am sure your Mom can verify this fact with no problem. Hope this helps...

Since males' testicles are external, and a portion of a females pelvic area is taken up by the uterus, it seems like males should have more room for the bladder to expand, but the few studies that have been done on bladder size and bladder capacity show all sorts of variation in bladder size, but do not show any significant difference betwen the sexes.

Yes, it's so that there is more room for a baby when they get pregnant. Most female organs are smaller.
