Depends on how much you dislike the child..............lets see strange names are real helpful on job applications.....think corporate america hires kids with hippie names....like moonbeam...cuts he kids future oppertunities...............blacks with names like shanika...are not the CEO's of companies
Think of middle school...emmy enima.........as a tease for him for a few years...............emmy rhymes with a lot of fun words..write them out so you know the future he faces.........it is only fair
Name him what you want.....but parental love only goes so far in life.........the rest is the perception other have of him..........

Depends on where you live. In some countries only approved names can be used. In the U.S. there is no legal problem with naming you son "Emmy," but do you really hate the poor baby that much?! Why not give him up for adoption to a family that will love him enough to give him a real boy name?
Or name him "Matthew Eric" and call him "M.E." if you must. At least then he would have a real name to use at school or work later on.

It's simple enough as the others have indicated to you. It needs to be considered by you how you would like to be called that. In Wales, the name Emyr is common but they are called Em for short, not Emmy. Emmy is a prize in the entertainment industry. Why not ask your friends. This kid will suffer pure hell at school. You don't want that. You might as well name him Percival Rasputin or Flonkpomplestein Mordiquental. My folks liked me enough to name me Daniel. Think about the little guy's future and name him something he can live with. He deserves the best and so do you.

Sure why not? To some people it may sound kind of feminine, but so what? It's 2007 and most won't judge him.
