Agriculture is the mainstay for many third world countries. Irrigation projects have to be adequate in these countries so that the produce does not suffer in any year. They are totally dependent on rain for their water resources, so that the rivers flow fully. Dams have to be built across rivers to collect waters and supply at intervals as desired for irrigation throughout the year. Small canals are run from the dams to different parts for adequate supply of water. Where river water is not adequately available, ground water sources, such as, borewells have to be used.
Agriculture decides the economies of many third world countries and the staple foods of rice, wheat and maize have to be raised through farming. Export of these and cereals and other food products help the economies of these countries. The livelihood of farmers depend on proper crops and nature can either help or mar the produce of the year.
