They were prescribed to me for a severe toothache and absess.
1. Penicillin
2. 400 Mg. Motrin
3. Vicoprofen (Generic Vicodin)

I'm in a lot of pain, and they can't pull it until Tuesday. But if I am pregnant, I don't want to do anything to hurt myself or my baby.

Thanks!

i would be very cautious. the motrin isn't recommended because it can cause bleeding issues, penicillin is ok, hydrocodone is untested but many docs `consider it safe. just a word of caution though, vicoden is hydrocodone and tylenol, vicoprofen is hydrocodone and motrin, be very careful how much you take as you should have absolutely no more than 2400 mgs motrin a day(short term use only with docs orders, 3 doses of 800 mgs, 4 doses of 600 mgs) in a 24 hr period. the vicoprofen contains 200 mgs motrin per tablet.

There's a website called safefetus.com that lets you look up any medication and see what effects, if any, it will have during pregnancy. No matter what it says, take the antibiotic, because a dental abscess can be fatal if it goes untreated.

1) Yes

2) Yes, but you wouldn't want to take it regularly or towards the end of pregnancy.

3) I believe it's safe (95% sure), in moderation. I know I've had to take it while breastfeeding, but not everything safe for nursing is ok durning pregnancy and vice versa.

(What would be risky is not treating serious dental issues durning pregnancy, preterm birth risk.)
