Hi!

It depends on the application. If, for instance, you are talking about some ID card from your employer then the answer is, most likely, NOT. It is likely to contain a code associated with your name.

This is true for most bar code documents, and this is for security reasons, in order to tell between OK cards and fake ones.

Books, for instance, have a different system, and the ISSN number is coded.

Also, there are about 20-30 bar code codes, depending on application.
