The pain could be from the baby's position. You can try changing position yourself to see if that will shift the baby a little bit. I don't think using a heating pad while you sleep would be safe, but you could try the thermal stick-on patches that they sell in the pain relief aisle at the drug store. I had sciatica during my second pregnancy and those helped me a lot. Don't take aspirin, but Tylenol is safe.

Oh, I almost forgot, when they test your kidney function during pregnancy they make you pee in a jug for 24 hours and then take it to a lab. I had to do it twice and it was gross because you have to store the jug of pee in the fridge.

I used to wake up at 4:00 every am. too, from my baby kicking & "waking up." When I started into labor, it was 4:00 am. When he was born, he'd sleep through the nite and wake up, you guessed it, 4:00am!!
You know your body, has your Dr. run any tests on your kidneys? Ask your Dr. again, and tell him your situation. Maybe he could recomend some excercises, to help with back pain, if thats what it is.

try using a heating pad while you sleep. Maybe prop yourself up more so you aren't lieing down straight. Ask your doctor if you can take tylenol, asprin, etc. Or an alternative to tylenol.

Congrats and Happy New Year's!
