It seems since the update of Internet Explorer 7, and Norton Internet Security 07 is pretty new, the problems began. Live update is always running in background, even when I turn off the auto live update, and then run it manually, that message appears. Then if I reboot the computer and right after run live update and do start it manually, it still freezes up and I can't even cancel without a lot of hassle and reboot. I tried uninstalling and re-installing.

A word to the wise...

Always do a complete backup of your system BEFORE you upgrade software or make any kind of major change. That way, you can quickly go back if needed. I recommend using Acronis TrueImage or DriveClone.

I don't have IE 7 installed, as I've heard about all the headaches it's causing in XP. It will come integrated with Vista, which is what I believe it was really designed for. Stay away from it in XP when possible. As for Norton Internet Security, I have the 2007 version running on one of our workstations in the office. It doesn't have the symptoms you're seeing...

Your first mistake was installing NIS 2007 in the first place. Norton products are notorious system resource hogs. Search the web for instructions on how to REALLY get rid of Norton, which will probably involve deleting a couple of hundred registry keys. You're are probably better off with a simple, free product like Zone Alarm.

Everyone with Norton's Security products has trouble.

This time when you uninstall, don't re-install. Take it back and ask for a refund because it doesn't work. These clowns need to get the message.

I work in the IT industry and I am sick of fixing computers infected with Nortons.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:
