What is a tap? This is not a term that is used in my country so please explain it. I kind of know what a caravan is, but again, not a term used here.

In general, the black is ground, what you probably call earth. In other words, the chasis of the vehicle. The red goes to the positive electrical lead from the battery. Do you need to put a switch in the line too? Be sure the line you use is fused properly or better yet, put in your own fuse holder, an inline one.

These are for switching the pump on and off. If you don't have a pump, you don't need them. If you do, there should be a connection block on it showing where to connect the tap switch. The red one goes to +12 volt and the black one goes to "switch".
