Of course they can ... tears are produced from inside the body and come out of the tear ducts ... you just couldn't see them because of all of the water. I'd think the biggest problem would be choking on water as the human inhaled (you know, that real sharp inhalation we all make) while crying.

It may be possible to cry underwater if you are wearing goggles, otherwise the surrounding water will fill your eyes making it difficult for the tears to come out

You bet. Your tear ducts still work. But I rarely cry underwater because I am so HAPPY
ps You also sweat underwater if you are warm enough or working hard enough.

yeah its happened b4..on ur last lap of a racfe and someone just pulls ahead of u and u kno that however hard u tey u cant catch up..and this was a big meet...ive seen people comeout of the water crying, and ive done it as well..its possible
