OK....Isla Mujeres is a must!!! Snorkeling is good, beach is not congested.....shopping and eating is wonderful. People travel mostly by golf carts and bicycles.....shopping is outside.....quaint open restaurants on the sidewalks.......a very relaxing and beautiful day. The jungle tour is a fun adventure......inquire with the tour people in the hotel lobby. Drive around??? I wouldn't do any driving in Cancun.....and I go several times a year!!! Go downtown Cancun at night to eat at La Parilla or La Habichuela and then go shopping on Tulum Avenue....a short distance away. It is so quite and beautiful. The Captain Hook dinner cruise is a good trip....I think it departs at 7 pm every night....steak and lobster. There is so much to do and see....I can't begin to tell you everything. Another good trip is Playa del Carmen......shopping at night on 5th Avenue. It takes about 45 minutes to get there by taxi or bus. If you plan on renting a car....this would be a good place to go. Check with tour people in hotel lobby for more information. Have a great trip.....I will be there the entire month of January!!!!

Go to TULUM! It's a super chill area and much less touristy than any of the places you listed. I spent several weeks there last year (because I couldn't bring myself to go anywhere else). They have cabanas on the beach, most with limited or no electricity, just a candle and bed on secluded beach. If you aren't looking for romance, or you want to go on the cheap, do what I did and stay in town (Tulum Pueblo) at "L'hotelito" on the main road through town, a few blocks west of the bus station. It has the palapa (thatch) roof and mosquito nets (required) over the beds. The women that run the place are wonderful, and they have their own well-traveled chef that cooks great meals in their kitchen. I was there during a hurricane and these women drove us to a market off the beaten path to get supplies. They treated us like their own family. There is great music and dancing just across the street. A short cheap cab ride to Playa Paraiso will put you on beautiful, uncrowded beaches with a great little beach bar that serves drinks and great food too. There are also plenty of guys hanging out willing to take you out snorkeling or sailing or whatever you wish. There are also many cenotes to explore and interesting Mayan ruins right on beautiful beaches. Don't pass Tulum up!
After we left Tulum, we headed to Playa del Carmen for a few days on our way to Cancun for our flight home. Playa del Carmen was flooded with stupid and loud Americans arriving by the boatload and acting a fool. We left a day early, just to get out of there, and stopped in Puerto Morelos. It was a VERY small town with cabanas on a private beach, but it is adjacent to a major shipping port with large ships sitting off the coast. The water wasn't as clean as other places, but snorkeling still revealed amazing fish.
I hope this helps. Have a great trip!

I even have been to Cozumel, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen countless cases. once you cruise, maximum in lots of cases you bypass to any or each and all of the places you have listed, specifically Cozumel. Getting between Cozumel and Cancun, on a ferry, is a 40 minute boatride over not so soft waters. make certain you're taking a Bonine (action affliction pill 4-6 hours in the previous taking the ferry). occasion communities travelling from the u . s . in lots of cases bypass to Cancun.

I'm going there too. I think you should go to Merida, 400 or 500 km from Cancun to visit the wonderful archaeological sites of Uxmal and Chichen Itzá. People say Merida city is also nice and cheap.
I'm also going to Xcaret is a park, always crowded but it looks amazing, you can check the website.
Finally, Maroma beach, around there was chosen as the best beach in the world.
I hope you have fun!

Get a local guide. He will do it for next to nothing and he will know all the great places that non-locals pass right by.
