We can't look after our own needs, that is no longer PC. We are now being forced to be a multi race nation, with the priority being other nationalities and religions, once they and all their kin are fully satisfied and all their needs met, do we (the government) put a priority on looking after our own, the health service, education, pensioners and housing (if there are any left after housing the foreigners)

Don't mind "Do Gooders" where they do good, problem is the ones who are clueless and make things worse - we have too many of those. As for welfare, the dole was invented to prevent starvation, a good thing, but now the government has developed it to the point that people are trapped and dependent on them (I wonder why?? ;-) ). Someone can be trapped on benefits and the only jobs they can get initially will make them worse off - ie they lose the housing benefit that keeps a roof over their head. How can they take the job that in the long run will set them free of the state?

Let's just pretend that you mean this question seriously. Do you seriously think that the UK would be a better place without teachers, nurses, social workers, police, fire fighters, etc, etc..? Yes, you might save some taxes, but heaven help you if you were injured or robbed and then had no "do gooders" to help you - after all, you should "look to your own needs and welfare".

I may not like this government (I definitely don't), but they are not the same as all these people doing a wonderful job helping the rest of us.

You'd get more specific answers to your questions (and therefore it would be more of a learning process in general for everybody) if you were a bit more specific about your question. What exactly do you mean by "do-gooders"? Are you talking about charities? Liberals? Nurses? What!? Or is that some phrase your daily paper uses and you expect us all to be able to understand who and what it means in some narrow definition in exactly the way you do?

There is nothing wrong with being a do gooder if its helping less fortunate people. Some people cant look after their own needs and rely on the government. Im sure if you needed help you would welcome a do gooder.

People are morally compelled to do good, it is in our nature, some people use their fame and fortune to do good, for others who don't have a lot, doing good is often still important.

Society expects that those who are less fortunate than ourselves will receive some kind of help from their fellow human beings.

As for the government, this government has done more to help the less fortunate in the UK and around the world than any other UK government before - a sign of a good government.

it's the same way here in the states. it seems these "do gooders" care about everyone BUT their own.

but the worst part is that they don't genuinely care about the poor and suffering as they claim. they just use them as a weapon against the western culture.

they want to guilt trip us into handing over our country, culture, money, jobs, and daughters to the "oppressed" minorities and turn us into a nation of pushovers.

i am at uni learning to be a social worker

And know what? i`m going to try to improve the lives of, asylum seekers, people with HIV, drug and alcohol users, young offenders, people with mental distress living in the community, released prisoners, families with abusive relationships, homeless people, street sex workers; you now, all those that you would take a flamethrower to
aaaa..nd........ i`m going to thank god for YOUR money in every case :-)

Happy new year, its people like you that keep me going, hope you never need anyone

Mmmm ..interesting choice of words smooth. (see below). "so called rights" meaning you would remove rights from sections of the community and "scum" the identification of an underclass. now where have we seen that before?? Pre war Germany, Rwanda, the Balkans ?

It's not just you. It is all the hard working and law abiding people of this country. We are sick to death of them putting the so called rights of the scum ahead of the victims.
