Very important for first impressions. The cold hard truth is that guys MUST find a girl attractive in order to take it to the next step,(i.e. meeting, dating, etc.).
It's sort of like when guys say they want to be friends. Guys only want to be friends with girls that they are not sexually attracted to.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd say 8 if I was thinking along the terms of romance. If not, then 1. Man and Woman were created to be attracted to each other. There is an magnetism that matters.
If anyone says otherwise, they probably don't view themselves as very attractive. Sad that we are so shallow, but true.

I pay attention to appearance more than looks (if that makes sense). What I mean by that is I pay more attention to how someone is dressed, their demeanor, the way they do their hair, etc. because you can tell a lot about someone's personality from those traits.

Looks (beauty) are important, though, particularly for a relationship.

If I see that the person is spending 2 hours in front of the mirror every day, I conclude they're shallow.
