The film is "Radio" released in 2003 starring Cuba Gooding Jr as James Robert Kennedy, a.k.a. "Radio," a mentally/physically challenged man who served as equipment manager for T.L. Hanna High School football team in South Carolina. He was nicknamed "Radio" b/c of his insistance upon bringing a radio everywhere he went. This true story was taken from a Sports Illustrated article written by Gary Smith entitled "Someone To Lean On." The movie actually condences the over 4 decade story into just one year at the school. The movie also stars Ed Harris as the football teams coach, Harold Jones.
