I've got this Harvest Moon:FOMT and MFOMT for the GBA. Then after playing it for sometime, I noticed that after I turn off my DS, my save file is always lost. After I asked the shop for this, they said that I need a memory card to save up my GBA games. Is it ok if I buy that memory card? It looks like a Game Card. (OMG Noobness!)

memory card? haha, those guys at the game store don't have a clue, do they? typically, they really don't.

both FoMT and MFoMT do not require saving by the diary near the bed... (i don't even remember if there IS one)

but you need to pause and go to the menu, and in there, you can choose the option [i think it says diary..] to save

of course, you'll be able to see that your file is saved. since it's a cartridge, and not a CD like disc, it saves automatically, and really fast.

if it disappears when you turn it off, it's possible that it only saves while the system is on due to the battery of the DS (which says that the game's battery is the problem...)

the actual game might have a battery in it, but i doubt it - it's supposed to use flash memory. if it does have a battery, it's possible that the battery is dead.

try other GBA games in your DS and see if they have saving problems too. i highly doubt that the gameboy engine is having to:write problems

They are just trying to sell you a memory card. It won't help at all. Are you sure you are actually saving the game before you turn it off? If I remember correctly, the only place you can save is in the diary by the bed.

If it still doesn't save, check your gba cartridge. It's possible you have a fake copy. See my source for ways of telling.
