The number 9 always makes me feel like whatever i accomplished was insufficient, like in terms of anything that requires a number. Example are grades in school, test scores, or scores in games or sports. I mean number 9 makes it seem as if you've almost reached the next level, that level being a new base 10, yet you weren't good enough to actually attain a little more in order to enter that base. like people would get mad if they got an 89 percent as a grade in school, because they almost reached the next level, that being an A, yet they only received a B+, relating to the saying "so close, yet so far". this is how i feel alot whenever i receive a 9 in terms of anything, since quality and acheivements are frequently measured in numbers, it makes me feel as if i lacked the ability to enter that next level, and the disappointment i have in failing to do so annoys me. i'd rather be the worst in a higher level than the best in a lower level, but does anyone have this mentality as well?

What if you had gotten an 99? I do not hate the number nine but I do hate to fail. In this case I would try to acquire what it take to reach the next level. I would not want to think that I am insufficient. I have gotten nines, but I have always seen space for improvement. The numbers that I am least friendly to are number 5 and 3. I always write my 5 like it is an S. I simply cannot normally write a five as it appears hear: 5

YES YES YESSSSS!!! FINALLY SOMEONE FEELS THE EXACT SAME WAY AS I DO!!! I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE!!!! HURRAH!!! I KNEW I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT FELT THIS WAY! Child YES YES!!!! I FEEL EXACTLY THAT! I HATE the number 9, ever since I was younger I HATED that number, and the reason why I do, you NAILED IT!
I mean don't get me wrong I don't mind any number with the number 9 in it but UNLESS the 9 is at the END of the number then YES I TOTALLY feel that way! like 2019 ugh!
Don't ever feel alone on this like I do because I feel you ENTIRELY!

I don't hate the number nine, but I can relate to your issue. I used to hate to get a 90% or more on a test because I could have done better.
My mother hates it because when you turn the number it becomes a 6; the number of the devil. I always laughed at that.

I have been a 9 person my whole life. Almost there--but not quite.
I guess you just have to look on the bright side, I would rather have a 9 life than a 4 life. Just my opinion though.
