Depends on whether you're just getting a manicure done or acrylics/gel nails done...
"Acrylic nails are bad news all around, and there are no less-toxic alternatives besides your own well-groomed nails. There are numerous short and long-term health effects from the chemicals used in these nails. Nails need to breathe to stay healthy. Covering them in plastic resin causes nails to become weak, thin and brittle. Fungal infections are a problem when moisture is trapped beneath the artificial nail. Removing the nails requires the use of a powerful solvent, usually acetonitrile. This toxic chemical can irritate the respiratory system, and may cause an enlarged thyroid.
Preformed press-on nails from the drug store are not an alternative. The glues used to attach these nails can cause contact dermatitis, eczema, dizziness and headaches."

I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant and stayed away from having my nails done as I had heard (from somewhere - I don't even know where) that it is unsafe. I had heard the same about hair dying, but I took the plunge and I have now had both my nails and hair done. I think that once you pass the first trimester you can do almost what you want in terms of beauty etc. My nail technician had never heard this rumour and had no idea why it may be bad for you or your baby and believed it to be an old wives tale. So, go get them done - it certainly makes me feel like a girl again :)

While I was pregnant I remember reading that you are not supposed to have your nails done. I'm sure its related to the fumes. Same as getting your hair dyed. I did do my own hair and my baby is fine. I suggest you speak with your doctor. I had my doctors e-mail address so I was able to ask him any questions I had with out going in the office or playing phone tag. Good luck.

I don't see why not. try not to stay in a closed up area for too long because the fumes of nail polish and nail polish remover and other nail chemicals *might* be bad for the baby. ask the doctor for better advice.
