Drinks with sugar will usually ruin a keyboard. Milk will toast one too, but it also has sugar (lactose) in it. Usually diet drinks and alcohol (straight) will not do too much damage. I had a friend who cleaned his keyboards with diet Mountain Dew! Not what I would choose, but. . . Take the keyboard out of the PC and put it in water (it may be toast anyway, already) dry it out and see if it still acts up. Clear liquids without sugar usually won't hurt the keyboard.

You've only had it a few months as in, "Behold, my brand new computer!" or as in, "I love you computer-hand-me-down"? If it is the former, then it should still be under warranty. Don't touch it. Don't pop off keys. Don't do anything that might void your warranty. Send it in and have it cleaned by the company that created your computer.
If, however, you have a hand-me-down, and can work the separate keyboard, then count your blessings that you can still work it, and any cleaning is done at your peril.
I once spilled a cup of cranberry juice on a Compaq Presario and from then on out my computer always smelled pleasantly fruity whenever I'd boot it up.

You can probably replace just the keyboard itself, unless you really spilled a LOT of beer into it. If you plug in an external keyboard and it still works, then chances are you just need to replace the keyboard.
Not as cheap a replacement as it would be for a desktop, but better than the whole laptop.
The keyboard DOES come out and you should be able to order it separately, but it might run you one or two hundred $.

What type of drink was it? If it leaves sticky residue, probably knackered, but It happened to me once and though this method may not be technically sound it is worth a shot as it worked for me. In order to dry out the laptop, wrap it in a towel and put it on a radiator the warmth that builds up inside the towel eradicates any liquid that remains inside, you can also use this method for mobile phones, (for example when your three year old daughter throws it in the toilet!)

Take the computer to a shop to fix it. I wouldn't mess with a laptop.

If you only had a couple months there should be a warranty

was it an alcoholic drink or a soda?
a soda has acid in it - if it was a soda - enjoy your new laptop
