you're using too much weight. The retinaculum and flexor ligaments are being over stressed, they need more time to adjust to this weight. Since the biceps are much larger and the agonist muscle here, they can do a lot more of the work then the remaining elements involved in the lifting can.

Dude - please listen, cause I learned this the hard way:

Your muscles have a greater weight bearing capacity than your tendons and joints.

That means that you can injure (strain or tear) a tendon or injure a joint even if your muscles are able to lift a weight (albeit with difficulty).

I injured myself by using my muscle ability as a guide. Big mistake - had an injury that took two years to heal.

Now I use the safe guideline of lifting approximately 40 - 60% of my maximum weight, and up the reps for more of a workout. I read that in a weightlifting guide - and it was for both genders and all ages.

No injuries since.

Be freekin carelful dude - take it from me - its very easy to sustain an injury (I wasnt even aware I had gotten injured until later), and very long and hard to heal it!!

Check to see if your wrist is moving during your curl. You should keep your wrist still and isolating your bicep as the only muscle working. If you can't keep your wrist still, lift lower wieght.
