Saw a program entitled Hippo vs. Shark. Who would win if they had a set-to? Opinions, please

Though they are not likely to encounter each other anywhere,if at all they meet the shark will definitely attack and kill the hippo which will only try to defend itself.Sharks grow upto 30' long and are more agile.So the hippo will not be a match unless the shark is a very small and young one.
Even if they are of about same weight the shark will seriously bite and wound the hippo as it is more aggressive and agile.

I think a hippo could beat a bull shark. About 10 feet and 500 pounds. But a great white could eat a hippos being 15-20 feet and 2,000-4,000 pounds. Hippos wouldn't stand a chance against a shark that size, over quadruple even 8 times more massive than a bull shark.

It doesn't mattor what kind of shark it is, if it's a great white shark, the great white shark would easily win against the hippo, if it's a bull shark, the bull shark would also win against the hippo. Both great white shark and bull shark would beat the hippo because the both kind of shark are much stronger, is more powerful and they both can pull down the hippo underwater so the hippo dies because hippos can't breath underwater. The hippo should not push up the shark because it's hard to do that. It's easier for the shark to pull down the hippo underwater and then eat the hippo. Same reasons for both Great White Shark and the Bull Shark.

A shark would do some damage to the hippo but hippo would win because of its massive jaws and teeth the shark would die instently but the hippo would get hurt

The TV show Animal Face-Off actually did an entire episode on this question. Their conclusion was that a hippo could kill a bull shark.

If it was underwater the shark would win. But if it was on land then the hippo would win hehe.

i guess hippo will swallow the shark with its enormous mouth then stand out in the sun killing the shark inside its stomach

I suppose the shark will win ,you see its jaw is so strong that it can even chew Iron !
