Baby food stains are why bibs were invented. Truth be told there aren't really any great ways to get the stains out of clothing all the time. If you can find an enzyme stain treatment like Out! or the Stain Devils products which are specialized according to the type stain- those work best. I have six kids, and after doing this routine with the eldest, I finally just rearranged my thinking a bit. First of all, save the cute bibs and all the little bitty bibs for drool only. Get the largest bibs you can, or do what I did. I bought a set of those matttess garters- the elastic ones that have clips on each end to attach to sheets. Use dark colored hand towels, and clip a garter onto one corner at the short side. Slip it around baby's head/neck and clip on the other side. The towels are all washable, and long enough to cover the front of baby. When the meal is done, it can wipe a messy little face and go right into the wash. Dark colors don't show the stains as badly, and they hold up to the multiple washings that are needed. And for the really messy meals to come- the spaghetti, for instance- as long as you are at home, sometimes its just easier to strip the baby down to the diaper for the meal. Skin washes up easier and is more stain resistant. It beats trying to get the peas out of the really nice bibs or the nice shirt. That's just fighting a losing battle, and it means doing laundry when you could be playing with your daughter.

Twenty mule team borax will do most of the work for you and leave the laundry smelling nice and fresh at the same time. Rinse the food out before it dries, if possible, set in a soaking pail following the directions on the box and your daughter's pretty clothing and bibs will look that way once more. The borax works for a pre-soak or laundry detergent booster and even kills pet stain odors in carpets, so you know your clothing always will come out free of odors.
My daughter suggested the mechanic's hand cleaner, Go Jo is what I use and buy it in the automotive section at Walmart, to rub very well into the old food stains on the bibs or clothes, as long as you know they are dye-fast. Then wash as normal.

I wouldnt worry to much about stained bibs. Keep a few pristine bibs for when you have guests round or go out. Otherwise just wash the bibs normally. You and baby dont care if the bibs are stained - thats what they are there for.
You could try oxi-clean - i find it brilliant for getting out stains. Or for white bibs try soaking in water with bleach in. Bio-tex is another good product to try.
When baby is old enough, use a plastic 'pelican' bib. Is she about 7 months and sitting up? Maybe old enough now. Another tip is to clip (with a peg) a normal, old tea-towel round baby's neck first and then put the bib on. The tea-towel will collect the bits that miss the bib.
I've never seen them but there may be disposable bibs you can buy.

Use a plastic bib with a trough in the bottom, this way no clothes gets stained. For any stains that manage to get through squirt a bit of washing up liquid on it before putting it into the machine. I didn't get any stained clothes.

You can go to the pet section in Wal Mart and find a product called "OUT! Stain and odor remover" it uses enzymes to break down the stain - just squirt/pour a little of this onto the stain well before laundering - then wash as normal

Try neat ,distilled, white vinegar. just pour a little on the stain and let it soak in for an hour or so then wash. It works on loads and is safe on colours too. Another great tip is if there are any head lice around rinse the hair in white vinegar and it keeps them off, white vinegar is the new miracle treatment!!!!

Baby food stains are a nightmare!
Cover her with a big tea towel. Cheaper than bibs! When summer comes feed her in the nuddy, then just stick her in the bath or sink. It comes off skin ok!
My girls used to love having a bath in the kitchen sink. It saves breaking your back too.

i would say before you try boil washing whites put them in cold water with a bit of bleach (if they're plain white). it's a well known fact that boiling stains into clothes means that they'll never come out without harsh detergents. you could also use salt (like using a face mask for clothes) and some normal soap and rub the stain into itself and keep rinsing it under warm water.
all worth a try
