Yeah...I want to see which one is better to do. Both I see pros and cons, but I want to see the people's view...Which does most musicians does first?

I compose Ambient and Electronic Music using Garage band on my Apple Laptop, and since I have a percussion background, I find it easier to put the beats down first. In my case, I find it next to impossible to put down lyrics to my music as it tends not to be lyrical in nature, but have a general mental block in that area.

I write songs. Almost always do the melody, or 'beats' as you say, first. Then the lyrics come to me, and the syllables have to work around the rhythm and everything...
