The building in Asakusa that looks like it has a big turd on top. What were they thinking?

You know, probably in the design stage it looked really good. I'd guess the drawings of the building were spectacular and they went ahead with the building only to be left with how it is now. Than being a giant gold turd.

Regardless, it kind of serves its purpose right? Everyone knows the building and it has become somewhat of a tourist attraction, albeit from the sheer train wreck of a design, but a tourist attraction nonetheless!

You mean the building of Asahi Breweries??
Uh-huh.
The people living around the building seem to call it "unko biru(=building)"
The formal nomenclature of that object is..."Flame of burning mind".

I was asking the same thing when I saw that building....
If only they used red or white or some other color.
Makes me laugh everytime I see it though.
Good question!

Because humans act before thinking...that's why. We all do it. Look at the Point of Sales system many merchants use....it's abbrev. is P.O.S.

Does anyone else find that ironic? (cuz the POS really is a P.O.S....)
