Greeks and Romans converted or killed?? what? no no no Alexander the Great united all the native ppls and then when the empire fell they all went new directions. they weren't all Greek as in from Greece.. they were Greek as far as under the Greek empire. Same goes for the Romans. Some just were bred into the local populations though... but still man u need to put some effort into researching things yourself before asking these questions. Geez a simple search in wikspedia would have answered ur question.

geez listen to these people. Greeks and Romans in the middle east WERE MoSTLY MIDDLE EASTERN PEoPLE. That is except for the elites. When these people were taken over they were converted into greek/roman culture. when those empires fell these ppl continued on with thier own identities. Egypt for example is still Egypt even though it was once Roman for a period of its history... geez ppl will say anything to get 10 pts.

I can tell u only about the greeks. A great deal of them converted during the centuries of the osman empire, there are still traces of that procedure in populations that still speak greek dialects but are and of different religions and national identities - all over the middle east, especially turkey, even in southern italy. The populations that kept their identity language and religion (about 1,5 - 2 millions), mainly in Egypt and Turkey, came to greece in the last century, mostly as refugees, because of the political turbulances of those times.

No, we were not converted. We became refugees and came to Greece. Those who were converted were local populations who were speaking Greek etc, because the areas were under Greek influene at hellenistic times.
