80 pounds ONLY for food i.e. if one cooks his/her own food at home and donot buy outside food at all (this is NOT INCLUDING rent, transport etc.)

Is 80 pounds/ month enough to buy cooking ingredients for a month for an average adult (this includes raw vegetables, fruits, milk, bread). This is also excluding any alcohol.

If not, what would be a conservative estimate one should keep for food/month in London provided you do all the cooking and dont eat out at all?

It does sound a little bit low. I would probably try to budget for £25 per week (£100 per month), as you have to remember that foods are priced a little higher in London. Unless you are going to shop completely at markets, then you might be able to do it. If you are cooking mainly vegetable dishes (ie. vegetable chilli/lasagne/curry etc) it does get a little cheaper. Its when you beginning to add meat and fish that the price goes up a little. You would definately be able to cope on the £100 per month.

Less than £3 per day seems to be stretching it. Budget for £5 a day (£150 a month) to be on the safe side. Tap water is perfectly safe to drink so bottled water £1 a small bottle is out. Fruit and veg at the many markets can be purchased in small quantities. Bread - likewise. Buy large milk in a supermarket. Eating out and coffee outside can be very expensive.

In London, you could easily go through £80 a week buying the food you have listed.

Depends on what you eat. I think it could be done, but I'm from Los Angeles. Your food won't be too exciting though. Not much in meat.
