If you want to go to the Philippines, there is another way but you have to wait, they are building the fastest train all over the world under sea, they started this few years ago. I watch this episode at Discovery channel and train could reach in the destination in minute very impressive. This train started in France, goes to UK, to USA. and I have no idea where it is right now. If you can't wait for this one you might as well take the plane.

If you are coming from the USA, you can take a cruise from Florida to Singapore (1) and then another cruise from Singapore to Manila (2). You may reach Manila at least two months.
Plan your cruise using the following website:
(1) http://www.surecruise.com (Select World Cruise)
(2) http://www.sidestep.com (Select Philippine Cruise)
You also have the option to go to Hongkong at first.
Enjoy your cruise. You may want to bring your car, too.

from where?

actually it doesn't matter... travel to and from the philippines is almost exclusively by air, although some people have been known to cross over by sea from indonesia to mindanao (southern philippines), but they weren't commercial vessels.

update: actually i take that back. apparently there ARE ferry services between mindanao and malaysia/indonesia:
