US people are living only on their own earning and not adding to their ancestors welth. In Europe a Child is born rich and hence, whatever he earns can live lavishly. Apart from that population of European coutries are tiny as well as their physical sizes, they are having good infrastructure facilities from the past and hence the policies by government provide more focus on peoples living standard which makes people life better

The quality of life is only lower for very low wage people, mostly because their wages are relatively lower compared to the middle in US. Everyone else benefits from the availability of cheap labor. In countries where the population is homogeneous setting up such a system is more difficult because there is an assumption of equality, but in the US, ethic and racial divides allow a philosophy of inherent inequality thrives. Groups are seen as lazy of dumb etc. which justifies paying them, and anyone else low wages because of the belief in "meritocracy".
