I work with two people that answer almost every question with a lie, daily. For instance, today I asked where a co-worker was in conversation and they said she had quit. They kept saying seriously, and then she walked in, not knowing what they were saying. It's okay once a month, but everyday? Any smart comebacks for people that think lying shows some sort of superior intelligence ?

Yes I am the girl that said I was quitting ha ha, no not really I am joking. Why sweat the small stuff buddy, they are insignificant in their behavior and they are just living like you so get over it. Dont let that get in the way of your joy, especially at work. You should be happy a little where you work, maybe take a vacation.
I love laughter dont you? I know what you mean though and they are annoying with their snide behaviour but let go. Maybe write somewhere where they can see your New Years Resolutions, and make one of them, " I will not get annoyed by the silly behaviour of others because they know not what they do". Or "I will not be laughing behind the backs of those who think they are funny with their infantile intelligence, and their ignorant attempts at telling jokes, and I will instead feel remorse for them that they are not good enough to be a comediane and this is the only job they will ever have." The second one is only if you want to tell them off without telling them off.ha ha happy new year. Hey maybe they like you like you and that is their way of showing it by acting like a fool?

They want to trick you lol. Wierd that they do it constantly. Tell them the story about the boy who cried wolf because he wanted attention. The wolf eventually comes and gobbles him up and noone believes him that the wolf was coming!
Or you could say to one of them, "I overheard the boss saying he was going to fire you... you know, because of cutbacks," and then when they get all concerned you just say, "MUH HA HA HA... just kidding!" lol

i think they are just comfortable enough with you to joke with you. Maybe they think that you are gullible and like to get a reaction from you.
